Minster Exchange and Gardens

Overview

The Minster Exchange and Gardens project is a unique urban regeneration scheme that will enable a variety of activities and initiatives that will deliver positive economic, cultural, societal and environmental impacts for Cheltenham and its community.

The Minster Exchange is an innovative modular construction building which will house state of the art workspace for the cyber tech, digital and creative sectors, a Growth Hub to support business development, an event space and cafe. It will also be the new home for Cheltenham Festivals to deliver a programme of events throughout the year and a platform to support its education and outreach initiatives.

The flagship scheme will bring to life an under-utilised urban space in the heart of Cheltenham's conservation area and will be the forerunner in the town for the forthcoming Golden Valley Cyber Development.

In addition, and subject to planning approval, the grant will fund improvements to the neighbouring open space surrounding the Cheltenham Minster (St Mary's Church), the town's oldest building, adjacent to the Wilson Art Gallery and Museum.  Plans will include new pathways, seating, public art, lighting, planting and signage.

The overall project will help to re-invigorate the local economy, establish key linkages to the High Street and support economic growth.

Why your views matter

The construction of the Minster Exchange and adjoining improvements to Minster Gardens (St Mary's Churchyard) are due to start later this year.

Prior to work commencing, we are seeking insight and information from local businesses.

We would like insight into the current use of the surrounding roads and alleyways leading to the Minster Gardens to ensure we minimise the disruption to your business as best as we can during the construction phase and gain feedback to inform our plans.
