Safety of Women and Girls in Cheltenham

Closes 31 Jan 2024

Opened 9 Oct 2023

Overview

Whilst the majority of people who use our town centre and access the night time venues do so safely, there is a concern that women and girls may face a greater risk of harm.

We undertook a Safety of Women at Night Survey in 2021 and with the feedback received we applied to the Safer Street Fund. Unfortunately the full funding request was unsuccessful but we were able to implement some changes including the introduction of taxi marshalls, bystander intervention training for evening staff, installation of additional CCTV and lighting and achieving Purple Flag status for Cheltenham.

Why your views matter

It is important that everyone who uses Cheltenham town centre feels safe so we are asking if you would be happy to share your experiences.

The survey will only take 5 minutes, your responses will be collected as anonymised data which we will use to help understand the current issues, where we should focus our efforts to inform change and support future funding opporunities.

The survey will remain open until 31st January 2024
