Overview

This year marks the platinum anniversary of Queen's accession to the throne and her 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth.

Cheltenham Borough Council has agreed a pot of funding, worth £50,000 to allocate to local good causes that will help the town celebrate and commemorate this very special year.

We are now inviting applications for funding to support jubilee-related projects across Cheltenham.

We have two pots of funding:

Community Jubilee Fund

This fund will support longer-term projects that will help the town celebrate and commemorate the jubilee. Grants of up to £3,000 will be made on a match-funding basis. We hope to make decisions on these grants by June 2022.

Community Building – Jubilee Fund

This fund will support small-scale projects, events and activities that will help the town celebrate the jubilee. Grants of up to £300 will be made. We will aim to make decisions on these applications within 2 weeks of the application being made.

You can use the online application form to apply for either grant.

Unfortunately, we cannot accept applications from individuals - all applications must come from an organisation.

What happens next

In June, a Community Jubilee Fund panel, which will include the Leader of the Council, a representative of the VCS and the relevant Cabinet Member, will assess all submitted applications. They will consider the information supplied on the proposals form to assess the following seven criteria:

  • The project’s contribution to helping the town celebrate and commemorate the Queen’s platinum jubilee by connecting people to build relationships and celebrating our ethnically and culturally diverse communities
  • The project’s contribution to improving local buildings or green spaces – parks, heritage buildings, community spaces etc
  • The project’s contribution to helping make Cheltenham a place where all our children and young people have the opportunity to thrive
  • The project’s contribution to supporting creative and inclusive communities fuse arts, digital and heritage innovation
  • How sustainable the project will be and contribute to helping Cheltenham meets its carbon zero target
  • How well the project will support economic activity, supporting local retail areas and bringing people into the town.
  • The project’s value for money in terms of its benefits versus the amount of grant requested
